Neil Wilkinson's Picnic Special
A sweet and sharp offering that highlights the delicious flavour of the cheese and offers a hearty mayonnaise free "picnic perfect" bite.
Neil Wilkinson from the Sandwich Factory in Atherstone created the "Picnic Special " as his entry in the 2006 Sandwich Designer of the Year Awards category "H&B Butler’s Secret Cheese Sandwich Designer of the Year."

Ingredients
- Butlers Special Reserve Cheddar Cheese
- Multi Seed Batch Bread
- Butter
- Medium Rare Roast Beef
- Special Reserve Piccalilli
- Vine Ripened Tomatoes
- Mustard leaf Lettuce
Method
- Butter Bread
- Spread Piccalilli
- Add Roast Beef
- Add Special Reserve Cheddar Shavings
- Add Vine Ripened Tomatoes
- Finish with Mustard Leaf Lettuce
Asked what makes his creation stand out from the competition Neil said:
"A really Special sandwich, the quality of all ingredients coming through but bringing forward the extra special flavour of the Cheddar, A Cheesy, Meaty sweet and slightly sharp offering a nice mayonnaise free hearty summer eat perfect for sitting in the park."
